A cognitive map is a map of the main external perception of the space and things in the human brain, which is a good tool for analysis of individual logic and awareness, and it is widely used in various fields. When it is applied in teaching for analyzing the teachers’teaching logic and the cognition of teaching contents, it plays another role, which is providing learners with a good way of learning to help the learners understand the content of teaching better.As for cognitive maps’features of knowledge visualization and similar with the concept of concept maps and mind maps, the cognitive map is not used as a common teaching aids in the teaching. The author expanded the concept of cognitive map and introduced it into bilingual education as a teaching tool for the first time, in order to help teachers and students completing the goals and tasks of the bilingual education. The main contribution of this thesis can be divided into three parts.Firstly, the author explained the concept of cognitive map, analyzed the definition and analysis of cognitive map in various fields. Comparing it with similar maps in factors, such as the definition, representation of knowledge ability, method of composition and application scenarios, and then elaborated the special characteristics of cognitive map.Secondly, the author analyzed the cognitive map’s function in the teaching, construction principle and operation process and expounded the characteristics of cognitive map. At the same time, the author selected concept cognition model and hierarchical model design, in order to put forward a set of good scalability, reusability, propagation of cognitive mapping steps.Finally, by analyzing the characteristics of bilingual teaching, the author discussed the necessity of cognitive map in bilingual teaching and analyzed the problem in applying it into bilingual teaching. And then by introducing the operation of a cognitive map in the bilingual teaching, the author analyzed how to accomplish teaching goals and tasks.From the view of learners, by way of introducing the cognitive map into the bilingual teaching, it could help learners not only grasp the bilingual teaching subject knowledge, but also gradually adapted to use the second language in science communication and expression. I hope that it could reduce learners’cognitive pressure and improve the bilingual teaching quality.
