Just like student volunteers’ motivation to participate in volunteer service activities is the unity of realizing self value and practice, service activities are rich in content and varied and more sustainable. College students volunteer service activities in our country started late, but it’s development rate is rapid and gained apparent success. At present, helping the poor, environment protecting, community servicing, emergency rescuing and large-scale activities servicing are the main content of the college students volunteer service activities.College Students’ volunteer service activities is the main form of the social practice activities in the Colleges and the important carrier of Ideological and political education of college students. The carrier plays an important role of the ideological and political education of college students.College Students’ voluntary service urges volunteers’ comprehensive quality to develope and the construction of campus culture to promote, also promotes the construction of socialist spiritual civilization.However, due to some subjective and objective factors, the roles of the ideological and political education of university students volunteer service activities are not playing sufficiently. One side, some college students have fuzzy recognition to volunteer service and lack of participation in volunteer service activities of the initiative consciousness, and also some college students can not handle the relationship of the academic and volunteer service activity. One side, the publicity and support for students’ volunteer service from part of college are not enough, and the awareness and support degree for the college students’ volunteer service is not high either. Another side, the management problems exit in some volunteers organizations.In order to promote the smooth development of College Students’ volunteer service activities, and play the role of the ideological and political education, we must have been catching the following work. First, bring the volunteer service into the ideological and political education. Second, strengthen the management to the college student volunteer service. Third, strengthen the training to the university student volunteers, improving the service ability. Fourth, establish and improve students volunteer service activity assessment mechanism.
