The research of English Writing is a hotspot in second language acquisition of our countryand it is also a difficult point. With the deep reform of middle school English teaching, theresearch of how to teach English Writing has attracted more attention. How to obtain thecharacteristic of English Writing, deal with the difficulties of English learners’English Writingand improve the writing teaching of English teachers is a concerned question in secondlanguage acquisition. Phenomena of language transfer in second language acquisition are anindisputable fact. Therefore, how to help English learners overcome the negative transfer andimprove the positive transfer in their English writing has been an important topic in the study ofhow to improve students’English comprehensive ability.The purpose of this research is specific, the process of it is precise and the analysis of data isbased on facts. In order to provide enough theories and cases, the author adopted literaturemethod to refer, settle and analyze related document literature. Based on theories of contrastanalysis, error analysis, interlingua, markedness, mother tongue transfer and so on, the writerset the research purpose as exploring the phenomena and influences of mother tongue transferin senior high school students’English writing and related teaching strategies. Subjects of thisresearch are students of two classes in Ji Gang Middle School of Shan Dong Province. Theauthor used questionnaires to subjects, knowing subjects’realization to mother tongue transfer.According to the evaluation of students’compositions, the author made statistic analyses ofmistakes on mother tongue transfer. Then, some corresponding teaching strategies were putforward. In the process of quasiexperiment, students’realization to avoid negative mothertongue transfer has been brought up and students’ability of how to make use of positive mothertongue transfer has been improved. According to this research and related analyses, existingproblems would be solved and proposed teaching strategies would be tested. 25 common errorswere found in senior middle school students’English writing, which could be further dividedinto interlingual errors and innerlingual errors. The reasons for interlingual errors are various.The most important one is mother tongue transfer caused by the differences between Englishand Chinese. Mother tongue transfer includes three aspects such as words, phrases andsentences. There are five chapters in this paper. The first chapter focuses on literature review, includingtheories on mother tongue transfer at home and abroad. Then the second chapter introducestheoretical bases of this research, defining some relative concepts of language transfer andintroducing some relative theories. Based on these, the third chapter introduces the design ofthis research in details, including research objectives, research questions, research objects,research means, research tools, research steps, data collecting and deposing, analyses ofcredibility and effectiveness, results of surveys and data statistics. Based on the results and datastatistics of chapter three, the fourth chapter analyses them intensively, including analyses ofquestionnaires, comparative analyses of grades, error analyses and so on. According to theresults of last chapter, chapter five advocates some corresponding teaching strategies and makesa deep explanation. At the end, the author makes a summary of the research, includingachievements, limitations and inspiration for further research.
