As a traditional language-learning method,recitation has been being emphasized andused. There are also many experts and scholars who lauch studies about recitation. But moststudies are about how recitation enhance the ability of spoken English and writing. However,recitation not only enhance the ability of spoken English and writing, but also cultivatelanguage sense and students’self-confidence. This article discusses the role and the impactthe recitation played in English learning, and emphasizes the role that the input of languageplayed in the output of language. All stages of the implementation process of the strategies arealso discussed.There are statistical analysis of experimental results with questionnaires andempirical research methods. First, it discusses many foreignscholars such as, Ellis and Skinner show their researches on recitation. It also introduces thesescholars’viewpoints on the role of recitation; Second, It introduces the domestic experts andscholars like Hu Chundong, Zhang Weiyou and Ding Yanren show their reseaches onrecitation and it also show the active role of recitation from theory and experiment.Third, Itdiscusses the research situation on text recitation in our country.Chapter two illustrates the theories involved with this research:“Input and OutputHypothesis”and“the Schema Theory”.First, it introduces Krashen’s Input Hypothesis”which includes the definition, development, content of language input and the features of thebest language input. Second, it introduces the Output Hypothesis which includes thedevelopment, the function of language output and the relationship between the language inputand the language output. Third, it discusses the Schema Theory.Chapter three presents the implementation of the inquiry and study of recitation appliedin the classroom at a senior high school. First, it introduces the experiment objective andexperiment hypothesis; Second, it introduces the design of experiment,such as, experiment subjects, experiment instrument and experiment methods; Last, it introduces each part of theimplementation of the experiment,such as pretest, specific implementation steps and posttest.Chapter four is the the analysis of the experimental data. It includes the pretest andposttest analysis of the experimental class and comparative class, and the questionnaireanalysis.Chapter five is the conclusion with a comprehensive summary of this article. It discussesthe main findings of the research and the inspiration for English recitation teaching. It alsosummarizes the reseach shortage and the advices on future reseach.Because of the limited time, the experiment is just implemented in small range, thenumber of the participants is not enough, moreover, because of the author’s limited ability,the design of the questionnaire is irregular and not to the point.
