With the development of English education in China, senior high English teaching has been in continuing reform period and now people are more and more focusing on the students. Students-centered classes are emphasized and it is the key to motivate the students to think. Since the publication of Frames of Mind in1983by Gardner Howard, a famous professor in Harvard University, both western scholars and educators have been conducting experiments in schools based on Multiple Intelligences theory and many results have come out. In recent years, more and more Chinese scholars and educators begin to implement Multiple Intelligences theory into teaching and testify the effect. There have been several results showing that activities based on Multiple Intelligences theory can increase students’interests and thus improve their academic performance. Learning styles is another important element for individual differences and have profound influence on the learning result. Up to now, most of the researches are about Multiple Intelligences theory or learning styles in college English teaching and few pay attention to the combination of the two. So this study is mainly a quantitative study and the author uses questionnaires aiming to identify the characteristics of the students’intelligences and learning styles and find out whether the activities based on both Multiple Intelligences theory and learning styles are beneficial to the students’interests and proficiency in English learning.According to the result, activities based on Multiple Intelligences theory and learning styles can motivate the students’interest in English learning and improve their English proficiency.
