As the development of society and technology,education is becoming utilitarian in a certain degree under the guidance of market economy.This leads to the concealment of education’s major content which is to satisfy people’s life growth.Thus,life education hasn’t received enough attention that it deserves.However,we realize deeply that the improvement of life education is urgent from many events and problems like the WenChuan earthquake,threatening shock brought by tsunami happened in Japan,worries of the quality of people’s lives and more undergraduate students committing suicide.This research starts from reflections on social problems.Around the topic of life education for undergraduate students,the writer summarizes and analyzes the philosophical foundation of life education,from which the writer noticed that the development of life education has already had strong and profound theoretical supports.And then the writer sorts out the development and progress of life education at home and abroad.From the perspectives of theoretical and practical development,this research provides rich experience to the improvement and development of life education in our country.It also broadens our horizon concerning the issue of life education.Furthermore,it poses problems of life education in our country.This paper focuses on a life education case study targeting at the undergraduate volunteers in SongTang Hospital.Through interviews,questionnaires,visiting people in SongTang Hospital and carefully analyzing the current situation of life education for undergraduate students,the researcher discovers the main problems exist in our country’s life education for undergraduate students:lacks of knowledge and understandings towards life education,lacks of life education,lacks of right understandings towards life and death and the form of life education is monotonous.Meanwhile,through this case study we can notice the undergraduate volunteers’personal growth,their better understandings towards the meaning of life and the importance of life education for their own development from the voluntary activities in Song Tang Hospital.Through this study,the researcher also finds out ways to improve the development of life education for undergraduate students:1.Change the philosophy of education to correct undergraduate students’understandings towards life and death.2.Value life education and strengthen management and guidance.3.Strengthen the training of teachers for teaching life education.4.Create innovative forms and promote development of life education through practice.5.Pay attention to the role of family,school and society in promoting the development of life education.In short,life education for undergraduate students should be strengthened as soon as possible.We should be fully aware of the importance of life education and the problems it causes,as well as take an active approach to accelerate the development of life education and perfect its system.In such a way,we can let the flower of life’s meaning and value blossom.
