In this time and age, affect plays an important role in second language teaching andlearning. Under the New Curriculum background, how to improve class efficiency andpromote the all-around development of students is becoming increasingly important. All ofthese requirements are all fit for the humanistic psychology. Humanism emphasizes theimportance of whole-person development, including both cognitive development andaffective development. Therefore, in the process of language learning and teaching, it isnecessary to pour attention into the affective factors. However, in the history of traditionaleducational conception, there are many misunderstandings on affect. It is common to ignorethe development of affective factors and overvalue the development of intelligence andknowledge, which can result in the low efficiency.Numerous researches have shown that affective factors play a great role in secondlanguage learning and teaching.
