Statistical Analysis Of The Characteristics Of The Attack And Defense Of32Teamsin FIFA World Cup South Africa

Football match is a sporting event that both sides play together with mutualattack and defense against each other. In recent years, the studies on characteristicsof the techniques and tactics of football matches are mainly focusing on attack anddefense respectively, or the researchers didn’t make a classified comprehensivediscussion and analysis of the indexes. Therefore, most of the studies applied theoriginal technical and tactical statistical indexes to analyze the matches. Themathematical statistics analysis method they used is relatively simple, and theevaluation is less than convincing.This thesis takes32teams of the19th SouthAfrican World Cup finals as the objects of study to analyze the characteristics oftheir attack and defense techniques and tactics. In the paper，eight representativeattack indexes and nine defense indexes are selected. The thesis firstly uses generaldescriptive statistical analysis and correlation analysis as the preliminarydescriptive statistical analysis to understand their differences and similarities. Andthen, the paper applies descending rationalism, using factor analysis to extract thecommon factor to explain its meaning. At last, the paper establishes standardizedlinear combination of estimates to form research indexes of attack and defense techniques and tactics grade evaluation system (original index evaluation form ofthe characteristics of attack and defense), the factor grade evaluation system(eachfator index evaluation form of the characteristics of attack and defense), andcomposite fators grade evaluation system (the total indexes of attack(A) anddefense(D), and the composite indexes(AD) of attack and defense techniques andtactics index evaluation form). According to the results of the analysis, this paperaims to establish comprehensive capacity evaluation system of the attack anddefense techniques and tactics so as to objectively evaluate the comprehensiveattack and defense ability of the32teams in FIFA World Cup South Africa. In thisstudy, the autor closely combines mathematical statistics and theory of modernfootball techniques and tactics, which overcomes the deficiencies of thesingle-factor indexes. The study integrated a number of technical and tacticalindexes, and extract the routines of modern football attack and defense techniquesand tactics as well, which can provide data evidences for the discussion and theanalysis of the techniques and tactics. It can also enrichs the event group theory inthe sport training and provides certain reference values on the practical exercisesand theoretical discussions for the football attack and defense techniques andtactics.
