With the rapid development of network technique, blog and micro-blog have been gradually applied in teaching and education. Advantages as well as shortcomings of blog and micro-blog are summarized in the research process of teaching application. However, in most researches, people tend to focus on only one of the two, which makes it difficult for users to select the tools when using them although they have known something about them. In order to gain a better understanding of the qualities of the two as well as helping teachers to select the most applicable tools in teaching, the present study makes a comparative study of the application scope of the two tools.Through consulting, analyzing and summarizing a large quantity of literature, as well as obtaining valuable experience and data from the real teaching experience, it has laid a good fountain for the comparative study. In the thesis, we first compares the features as well as the developmental and transmitting characteristics of blog and micro-blog. Then the two are compared in real teaching strategies and contexts to get the different use effects due to the different transmitting features, thus the conclusion of the rational use of blog and micro-blog is made. Finally, the conclusion and research limitations are presented through the comparative study of the two.A detailed comparative study of blog and micro-blog’s application in teaching is conducted in the present study. The thesis falls into five chapters as follow.Chapter one-Introduction. Mainly introduces the research background and current situation of the present study.Chapter two-An overview of blog and micro-blog. The presentation of blogand micro-blog is made by comparing the definitions, developing processes and transmitting features of them.Chapter three-Literature analysis on teaching with blog and micro-blog. Comparative analysis of the two on three aspects:population, contents and media, in order to reveal their propagation characteristics.Chapter four-A comparative study of the application on situations and strategy of blog and micro-blog. An overview of the characteristics of communication is introduced in the first place; then the analysis of both applications is divided into two levels:teaching situations and teaching strategy.Chapter five-Conclusion. To provide advices that which can be better used for teaching between blog and micro-blog.
