General Education has been developed more than a decade from an abstract concept of education to various forms of educational activities, except the first pilot school to carry out General Education through the "Yuanpei Plan" and "Kuang Ming College", a large number of institutions, including vocational colleges, has carried out a wide range of General Education. Along with this wave, current study has achieved fruitful results in terms of the purpose of General Education、effects and especially the curriculum. However, if we only pay attention to the General Education curriculum、 extra-curricular activities, neither the scientific evaluation of the effect of implementation, no specific improvements, this is no guarantee that is not in the pursuit of another form of "Excellence Without a Soul". Therefore, this study selected as a case of Central China Normal University, to be carried out from the General Education results of the empirical investigation, hoping to play the effect of forward.This study based on Student Development Theory, data and information collected from "Central China Normal University General Education Results survey" and interviews as the main source of research information. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first chapter is an introduction, including formulation of the problem, definition and discrimination、the literature review, research ideas and research methods. The second chapter is to study the effectiveness of H University General Education, which is the main part of this article. First, establishing the assumptions and analytical framework accrodding to Astin’s theoretical and practical basis, and then define the total target of the General Education outcome measures, institutional resources, sub-indicators, and finally use the way of empirical analysis to analyze the data collected. The third chapter is the conclusions and recommendations of the research. The results show that:①the General Education of Central China Normal University has achieved success.②The main factors affecting the General Education of Central China Normal University effect: Good Teaching and High-Quality Interactions with Faculty, frequency of Interacting with Faculty and Staff.The innovation of this study is the evaluation of the results of General Education from the perspective of changes in the quality of students’ability, which is based on Student Development Theory. Also, utilize "input-Environment-Output" model to set up own analytical framework to facilitate the schools to use the evaluation results to improve general education. The limitations of this study is the lack of an independent investigation during the General Education process, in addition to a variety of indicators needs to be further screening analysis.
