Along with the New Course Curriculum Standards issued and implemented, theTask-Based Teaching Approach attracted widespread Attention in our education,especially in primary and secondary schools, and with the development of moderneducation technology, the multimedia teaching aids are used in the middle schoolEnglish teaching in many developed areas., which has given a lot of support to theimplement of the Task-Based Teaching Approach in the middle school English teachingand make it very popular and effective in the developed areas, However,as for thoseschools in relatively backward or remote mountainous areas, what kinds of teachingaids can be well used to help them put the Task-Based Teaching Approach intopractice?The author tries to use a traditional teaching aid——DIY cards to implement theTask-Based Teaching Approach. Although cards can only be considered as a kind oftraditional teaching assistance method, the card teaching has more unmatched flexibilityand operability than other modern teaching means. It can be used in English teachingunder poor economic conditions and teaching conditions, even in the poorest classroomconditions and the least developed places.Therefore the author tried to use the DIY cards in a middle school of Yunnanprovince which has relatively backward and poor teaching conditions. In the teachingprocess of Task-Based DIY cards,students made some DIY cards about grammarknowledge under the guidance of the teacher. By doing so, the students can completethe cards as a kind of English learning tasks, whose goal is to arouse students’ interest inEnglish learning, and cultivate their learning confidence. Based on such a purpose, theauthor puts forward two assumptions, they were: task-based DIY cards have a positiveimpact on students’ interest in learning English; The task-based DIY cards have apositive impact on students’ learning confidence. To test whether the assumptions arereasonable or not, the author made a contrast experiment research in the educationpractice.The study results showed that the task-based DIY cards not only have a positiveimpact on students’ interest in learning English; but also have a positive impact onstudents’ learning confidence.
