The traditional national sports is a product of the Chinese long history, and an important part of traditional culture. Modern social attitudes, modes of production, school education all affect the traditional national sports. The body building of the entire people provide development space for the national traditional sports, Transition of production mode made some traditional national sports gradually disappeared, and the development of communication technology made the nationality traditional sports in China gradually go out of the country, of the martial arts and Tai Chi are the most representative and are supported by Westerners. The development of globalization also makes the appearance of different culture at the same time, resulting in cultural conflict. The western athletic sports culture gradually become the dominant, increasingly penetrate into people’s lives, then it turns out that the traditional sports culture atmosphere is insufficient; government excessively emphasis on the economic development, the traditional physical capital investment is smaller than the competitive sports, the national traditional sports development is facing the opportunity and challenge that never have met before.The school education, as the main position of sports transmission and development of national traditional sports, should be the main direction of the future which we should pay more attention to. National traditional sports only appeared in the school sport teaching material, spread to the large, primary school, become a vast number of young fitness activities, through adolescence and drive action, extend to the family and social, to keep the social awareness of national traditional sports, pay attention to traditional national sports, practice traditional national sports and promote the development of traditional national sports.This led to the school community, social drive area, several large regional connected into one piece, in order to promote the development of nationwide national traditional sports development.The thesis is started from the view of the present situation of Xiangxi’s traditional sports, to explore the trend of the national sports development in the current school education from the microcosm of the Chinese traditional culture and its significance.The author fully used the literature, expert interviews, comparative study, statistics and other research methods to specifically analysis the national tradition sports present situation of Xiangxi. Xiangxi is an area with a long history has a rich and colorful culture. It is very unique and difference comparing with other area. The traditional ethnic sports of Xiangxi are also colourful, but some of which are gradually being forgotten, because of the accelerating of modernization process. The specific traditional sports in School education is not very much, the traditional sports interest of students comes out of the love of local culture and the fitness function. The number of the people who participate in traditional sports holds very small proportion of the whole number. Based on this situation, Ⅰ found the deficiencies that the ethnic traditional sports projects in present school education is less and the function is weaken, and the physical education of school shows the strong western flavor. The author The author proposed the methods to deal with this situation actively under the background of modernization. Ⅰ hope that the legal system should be established to protect the development of traditional national sports, and the school should be seen as the key to develop the traditional ethnic sports, Setting up the course of traditional ethnic sports actively, promote the development of minority sports through the competitive sports, and the use of modern communication technology to give publicity to minority sports, and the modern market should be used too.
