| Sunshine sports has been implemented for five years. To better understand the current middle school physical education in Taiyuan city, the present paper carried out a thorough investigation on the implementation of Sunshine sports there. By collecting the true first-hand information, the present paper aimed at identifying problems existed in middle school physical education in Taiyuan city and putting forward corresponding constructive suggestions. Thus, the theoretical basis and reference data were provided to the further development of middle school physical education in TaiYuan city.Such research methods as literature review, questionnaire, interview, and statistical analysis were employed in this study.30physical education teachers from12middle schools in Tai Yuan city,100parents of students and300students were participated in this study, providing the first-hand information. The findings of the present research were as following:the middle schools in Tai Yuan city did not pay enough attention to the "Sunshine sports" and the quantity rather than the quality of Physical Education and Health could be assured. The schools which list "Two Exercises and Two Activities" in their teaching plan accounted for83.3%, therefore, the increase of such schools was apparent. With respect to the physical education teachers, they were not responsible for instructing in "Two Exercises and Two Activities". Site equipment and facilities could not meet the needs of students’ physical exercise.40%of the students were passively involved in the "Two Exercises and Two Activities"; boys like the confrontational fierce kind of sports, while girls like soft kind of sports. Despite the appropriate proportion of male and female teachers as well as the proper professional title structure, teachers education background levels turned out to be low, and they were "aging"; on the other hand, Physical education teacher to class ratio was reasonable, but the teacher-student ratios were not in line with the national requirements..There were too many students in a class; In terms of professional ethics, physical education teachers were able to coach in accordance with the law, and be honest, but they were not good enough in loving their students and respecting for parents; Besides, their research and innovation capacity needed to be improved. Luckily, their teaching ability was very good. The community organizations of middle schools in Tai Yuan city were not comprehensive, and only a few school had sports associations. The middle schools in Taiyuan City organized various forms of after-school sports competitions, the most important of which is the individual competition. School leadership, physical education teachers, parents and students did not attach importance to the "Sunshine sports" to a different extent.80percent of the students had established and accomplished their records of "Student Physical Health Standard Test" and7%of middle schools documented students’ health standards test results to the student file, while93%of middle schools, did not regard the test results of the students’ physical health standards as a graduated basis. In addition, none of the middle schools saw the test results of students’ health standards as an important basis for the national college entrance examination. Only2.5%of middle schools awarded those students who had achieved excellent levels of students’physical health standards the "Sunshine Sports Medal"Therefore, the following suggestions were proposed in the study: strengthening the publicity of Sunshine Sports; organizing various sports activities; strengthening the faculty building of physical education; actively participating in school sports club; enriching students’ sports and cultural life; scientifically and appropriately organizing sports activities for students; achieving the optimal use of teachers and sporting venues. |
