Since the concept of task-based teaching is put forward in thecourse criteria of teaching English, tasked-based teaching has been awidespread use in English teaching. Compiled under the guidance ofthe new concept, the new course criteria requires a newly--proper andadvanced teaching method to cater to the application. Comparedwith other teaching approaches, tasked-based approach is anapproach to putting the new course criteria into practice and a goodmatch to it. This thesis makes an analysis of the background, urgency,practicality and necessity of task-based teaching, discussing its specificapplication and efficiency in reading classes in senior high schools.Then,this thesis analyzes its definition and theoretical basis, enabling usto set effective and practical task in reading classes. Furthermore, Thisthesis through the investigation and evidence collection carefullyanalyzes the common problems of the English reading classroom andfind the solutions to the existing problems. Based on these, task-basedteaching is practical and effective in reading classes in senior highschools.Based on the teaching practice in reading classes in senior highschool, the discoveries are listed as follows:1.Through effective use of task-based teaching in the teaching ofreading in senior high schools, students pragmatic ability increasessignificantly, eager to communicate.2. Through reasonable and effective use of task-based teachingbased on students’ concrete situation, students’ reading interest isdeveloped and reading motivation is more explicit, even the personallearning is more outstanding.3. Through effective use of task-based teaching in the teaching ofreading in senior high schools, designing teaching method properly, reading-strategy instruction and training can get the students who arenot good at reading in English reading classes more actively involved inEnglish reading and sharpen their reading--comprehension scores.
