Researches on Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) have beeninfluential internationally. Being praised as “core of teachers’ teachingknowledge”, PCK is becoming an issue of concern among the Chineseeducational circle. With the development of teacherprofessionalization, the issue of novice teacher professionalizationcannot be ignored, as novice teachers are the main force ofeducational career development in the future. Then, what are thedifferences between novice teachers and core teachers in subjectteaching? What are the problems with novice teachers in the processof their development of subject teaching knowledge? These problemswill become the focus of this essay.This essay simply sorts through novice teachers’ subject teachingknowledge and current situation of their incumbent practice ofteaching firstly with method of document research, then, to revealexisting problems with novice teachers in the development of theirsubject teaching knowledge, this essay compares and analyses PCK ofnovice teachers and core teachers in junior high school in Shanghaiusing methods of empirical study,such as questionnairesurvey,involvement at scene, interview and tracking, case analysis, etc.Further analysis is made on the above basis, and further more, this essayoffers strategies for the development of PCK of novice teachers andproposals for growth of teacher professionalization.Through research, this essay finds the following several problemsexisting in personal, school and other aspects of novice teachers:self-cognition is unclear, position-setting is not accurate, teachingconcept needs to be promoted, teaching practices goes adrift fromtheories, unable to reflect or make self-assessment, space for schooldevelopment is limited, training system is incomplete, lack experts’ leading, etc.Based on thorough thinking of the research results, this essay offersrelevant proposals on existing problems in PCK of novice teachers inShanghai. The essay promotes the subject teaching knowledge level ofnovice teachers from the following aspects: making good plans forteachers’ career development, intensifying teaching case study,forming good habit of reflection, grasp the critical period oftransformation from novice teachers to core teachers. And the essayappeals for the appearance of educational research consultants,expecting schools to try their best to create good environments andspaces for development.
