Since1999, with the strong demand of citizens for higher education, the secondary-levelundergraduate college (hereinafter referred to as the "Independent College") which isorganized in accordance with the new mechanisms and new modes of standard universityappeared as a new form of school in the Chinese higher education system. As a new schoolpattern, the development of Independent Colleges certainly gains wide attention and arisemany problems. Particularly,"the national minimum wage provisions" increased year by yearbrought invisible pressures to the positioning of the remuneration of independent collegewhich has been showing up in recent years. The development of college needs talent whilethe critical way of retaining it is the payment. So it’s necessary to organize a in-depth study ofthe remuneration of independent college, to study the crux of the problem and to proposed atheoretical tool in order to guide their practice.The total number of Independent Colleges in our country is322while there are31colleges (about10%) in Hubei Province and30%of them are in the top20colleges in theranking of Independent Colleges. It indicated that Hubei Province is in the leading position inChina no matter for the quantity or the quality so it is a good sample when studies theIndependent Colleges’ remuneration. This paper took a field research in15IndependentColleges in Hubei Province in order to study the remuneration of Independent Colleges, andanalyze the elements of the salary structure by using SPSS17.0according to the survey data.The research analyses the extent to which the main factors are implicated in pay satisfactionand it gives a reference to the determination of salary structure. Moreover, based on thecombination of the characteristics of Independent Colleges’ teachers, this paper put forwardthe pricing model of the independent college, which provides guiding recommendations foroptimizing salary structure, developing a reasonable salary level and retaining key personnel.
