The Constrction Of The University Culture In The View Of Traditional Culture

In the Sixth Plenary Session of its Seventeenth Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party, it made the decision of deepening the culture system reform. It indirectly reflected that our national leaders began to pay attention to the role of the culture that promoted the social progress.In the university, culture system reform is the construction of university culture. University culture is the base that one university differs from the other ones. At all times and in all countries, those universities which are famous at home and aboard have their own special culture. Most of the modern Chinese universities are the reproduction of the western university, and the university culture also imitates theirs. If our university wants to take a proper place in the international stage, we need to construct our own university culture with Chinese characteristic. And this characteristic should stem from Chinese5000years’ traditional cultures.Chinese traditional cultures are extensive and profound. This paper mainly focus on the "Ritual of Confucianism" to explain the construction of our university culture. University culture can be divided into three levels:the level of macroscopic faith; the level of meso norm and the level of microscopic practice. Ritual has its means at all times, which includes etiquette, ceremony and so on. But the essence of the ritual is a kind of order. In more than2000years of feudal society, ritual required different people followed the different moral standards and rules of behaviors. It used soft power to restrict people’s behavior and mind, which played an important role in confirming and safeguarding the patriarchal order, and then contributed to the stability and development of the society at that time. University is a mini society that has its own organization and culture. The operation of a university also needs some certain orders to confirm. With the development of our country’s higher education, university culture is gradually missing:the lack of ritual in the campus can be seen everywhere; some backward orders can not catch up with the development of the university, and even become the obstacle to the university progress. In the ancient times, ritual had positive influence on safeguarding the stability and development of the society, so in the process of constructing the university culture, we can not only absorb the essence of the traditional ritual and restore the traditional ritual order, but also change those backward order and ideas, and then reconstruct a new pattern that meets the development of the university. Using some cases, this paper is mainly from three levels to discuss the university culture and ritual. In the level of faith, university purpose and education ideas, which absorbs the essence of ritual and reconstruct the order of ritual, and then makes the university culture gained identification under the invisible, formative influence. In the level of norm, restrict the teachers’ and the students’ behavior; manage the teaching and academic activity and coordinate the relations between administration and academics. In the level of practice, restore the traditional ritual norms and build a new ritual culture in all kinds of ceremonies and campus construction, and makes the university culture be the combination of traditional culture and modern culture.In the view of ritual, our university will be a university has its own characteristic, and then use its own influence to lead the culture of all-round society progress.
