Under the guidance of "New Curriculum Standards", many secondary schools tend to take student-centered interactive teaching which breaks the rule in traditional teaching that the student plays a passive role. This paper has investigated the English classroom interaction in Xushui Middle School (here mainly focusing on the teacher-student interaction in classroom), and tries to answer the following questions: What’s the situation of present classroom interaction of senior high school? Whether teachers’beliefs influence their behaviors? And whether there are differences between teachers’and students’beliefs and behaviors? What are the problems in the process? It takes appropriate measures, thus to promote the reforms in classroom interaction and to improve the English teaching effectively. This paper has made quantitative and qualitative research of the cognition of classroom interaction of the high school students and their teachers through questionnaires and interviews. Through a comparative analysis of the beliefs and behaviors’differences of the subjects, the author has made an analysis of the reasons for these existing differences which are follows:The current English classroom interaction in High school can’t meet the expectations of the English teachers’and students’. There are differences between teachers’and students’beliefs and behaviors. Teachers’teaching methods need to be improved and their classroom management capabilities need to be strengthened. Also teachers need to adopt flexible classroom activities and use humorous language frequently to enliven the classroom atmosphere. Students perform are not active enough in English class, responding passively to teachers’questions or activities. On the one hand, students’ learning is utilitarian and they are not interested in these classroom activities which may have little to do with the exam; on the other hand, most of the students don’t do the prepare for class, so they can’t participate in the classroom activities.Suggestions and improvement measures dealing with these differences are mainly from the perspectives of teachers, students, teaching environment and teaching evaluation which are four factors affecting the high school English classroom interaction.First it is necessary to increase trainings of teachers’ teaching skills and techniques, and teachers need to reflect on their teaching practice and deal with teaching materials and design tasks by using their advantages at the same time. As to the students, first of all, they should have clear learning motivations, set the appropriate goals and adopt proper learning methods. Besides, they should learn how to make good use of the meta-evaluation.And about their teaching environment, it is better to take the small-class teaching, and create a relaxed classroom teaching environment. And a good classroom interaction also needs an objective and comprehensive evaluation, which is composited by flexible design evaluation activities.
