This dissertation tries to analyze the characteristics, main problems of industry-owned secondary vocational schools in Shanghai after the transition from its planned economy system to a socialist market economy system, and tries to explore the causes of problem and the countermeasures to ensure the schools running. The dissertation is consisted of five chapters.Chapter1is "Introduction", which includes the background, research significance, research ideas and methods. It represents the theoretical and practical significance of this research by clarifying the core concepts and process of this research.Chapter2is "The historical research of running industry-owned secondary vocational schools". This chapter tries to describe the history development skeleton of running secondary vocational schools in planned economy system and the socialist market economy system respectively on the base of the analysis of main vocational education policies and regulations materials. And then deepen the understanding of the characteristics, main problems, and development process in running industry-owned secondary vocational schools.Chapter3is "The feature analysis of these industry-owned secondary vocational schools". This chapter tries to demonstrate the status quo of these industry-owned secondary vocational schools and summarize the running characteristics through investigations and literature references.Chapter4is "The analysis on the main problems with these industry-owned secondary vocational schools". This chapter summarizes the main problems which are the sharp decline in the number of the schools, both of the students and the teachers, the shortage in schools funds, and the obstacles in management systems, and tries to elaborate the historical and realistic reasons.Chapter5is "The countermeasures in running these industry-owned secondary vocational schools". This chapter proposes suggestions such as improving the management systems, legislation and legal systems and innovating the running modes, etc.
