This paper depicts the transfer intention of national rural-urban floating population in terms of residence, employment, and registration, according to the personal information of rural residence in the investigative data of floating population’s dynamic monitoring carried out by the Population and Family Planning Commission among one hundred and six national cities in the upper half year of2010, utilizing the binary logistic regression model to investigate the influencing factors of transfer intention of national rural-urban floating population in terms of residence, employment, and registration, exploring the differentiation situation of the internal transfer intention of rural-urban floating population through the cross analysis of the relevant intention and main influencing factors. The research indicates that the rural-urban floating population is willing to work and live in cities, while maintaining the rural residence not transferred. The fundamental reason why they do so is that they would like to reserve the contracting land, not rating the urban residence which is of low demands highly. Compared with middle-sized and small cities and towns, they are more likely to settle down in big cities such as provincial capitals. Among the rural-urban floating population who are willing to transfer the residence, young and middle-aged are mainly going toable their offspring to obtain superior educational opportunities, the aged are more likely to acquire the social security and welfare of city dwellers. The higher level of education the rural-urban floating population possess, the higher proportion of people who are willing to be transferred into urban residence. This phenomenon also takes place among those who reside longer and those whose residence areas are of more advanced economy and more beautiful urban environment. The closer relation to the land, the lower intention of being transferred into urban residence they have, and vice versa. With regard to the choices of future residence and employment, overall the rural-urban floating population’s intention of working back in rural areas is not intense, and the majority of them do not plan to do so. They tend to select the houses in current flow-in areas and cities of residence if they intend to purchase a house in the future. Most of those who plan to go back for working intend to be engaged in nonagricultural occupations in villages, counties, cities, and districts of residence. The younger the rural-urban floating population is and the higher level of education they acquire, the higher proportion of people who intend to go back for working, prefer being occupied in nonagricultural occupations, and plan to reside in cities and towns. The longer they live in current flow-in cities, the lower intention of going back for working and the higher intention of purchasing a house in flow-in areas they have, and vice versa. The rural-urban floating population’s intention of going back for working is lower in more developed regions of residence and flow-in areas. The closer relation to the land, the higher intention of going back for working, being engaged in agriculture, and building houses in the rural areas of residence they have.
