Body self-esteem, which is closely related to the social assessment,is “different satisfaction or dissatisfaction of individual aspects of egohealth condition". It is the overall self-esteem in a specific field. Thechange of physical self-esteem can cause the overall self-esteemchanges in the same direction. Teenagers pay special attention tothemselves and like evaluating others with high standards. They areparticularly unsatisfied with their own bodies.Studying different optional PE items’ influence on body self-esteemof high school students and their development of different dimensionscan help students realize the positive effect of taking exercise on thedevelopment of body self-esteem. Therefore, they can choose theproper items and arouse the correct awareness of taking exercise toimprove level of self-esteem.This thesis used the literature data method, questionnaires andmathematical statistics research methods. I carried on T inspectionanalysis on the students body self-respect discrepancy.720students,who have chosen basketball, football, volleyball, aerobics and tabletennis respectively are from three four-star high schools in Wuxi. Theyfilled in the questionnaires based on the body self-esteem scale editedby Xu Xia.The results show that:(1)5elective project take basketball andfootball program students body self-esteem overall level is electivevolleyball, table tennis, aerobics students to high, mainly in the physicalquality and sports skills have differences.(2) choose basketball projectboy body self-esteem than total score choice table tennis andvolleyball project boy; Little differences between girls, selecting the girlsbasketball body self-esteem and table tennis, volleyball total scorechoice between girls in significant differences near critical point.(3) take time1year of basketball, football program students bodyself-esteem overall score and dimensions are higher than the electivevolleyball, table tennis, aerobics students; Take time to reach2years,except the basketball and aerobics contrast between the outside, thedifference between the various projects gradually decrease.(4) theproject take2years and take1year of change is look, football projectin physical dimensions in boys and girls in aerobics body attractiondimension is significantly higher.Students levels of body self-esteem make a difference, owing todifferent characteristics of exercise items. The author put forward sixstrategies and measures:(1) Giving instruction in choosing items (2)Improving teaching skills according to the characteristics of items3)Establishing task orientation.(4) Polishing the evaluation method.(5)Strengthening the campus physical culture construction.(6) Increasingexercise time. I hope it will be helpful to the sports elective system of thenew curriculum.
