After the founding of new China, our government transformed and took over the private middle schools in line with the new democracy principle, just to enable them to truly meet the new democratic education policy. This paper studies on the private middle schools which were transformed and taken over by Chengdu government during the1949-1952. By studying Chengdu government and the culture and education office of west Sichuan people’s civil administrative office, we can find the survival status of the private middle schools at that time and fumble the people’s government how to deal with various types of private middle schools. Also we can find out the relationship between secondary education and the new regime to consolidate, summarize, analysis the causal relationship、the implementation process and impact based on the above basis.Besides the foreword and the conclusion, this paper use another three parts to detail the activities of the private middle schools in Chengdu during the1949-1952.The first part:in this part, I will introduce the historical background of transformation and takeover of the private middle schools in Chengdu. First of all, it’s the narration of the political environment、economic status and education policy, which introduces the educational background of the private middle schools that were transformed and taken over in the special period after the founding of new China. And then, I want to make some preliminary analysis on the status of the private middle schools before and after the founding of the liberation.The second part:it is to discuss the course of transformation and takeover of the private middle schools in Chengdu. The first stage is that our government made an investigation stage which was taken over and transformed gradually (1949-half of1952), including some specific narrative government’ policies、implements、the changes in the private schools after transformation, I selected two representatives of the background of the warlords, which are the examples of the combination of Shu Hua school and Qing Xie schools. After that, it is about all the private schools taken over (late half of1952), especially the specific narrative reasons of policy shift and implements, I carry out specific analysis with the background of the church by Hua Mei girls’secondary school. The last is to narrative the shift of thinking and treatments of teachers and students’mind during the process of taking over private schools.The third part:it narrates the effectiveness and impact of this progress in Chengdu at the early days of foundation by comparing the transformation and takeover situation with other areas.The last part:after the analysis of the transformation and takeover of the private schools in Chengdu during the early days, I want to look into the future of the present private schools.
