Teacher professionalization has received increasing attention from the society, and the cultivation of the Master of Education is one of the important ways it. In recent years, the expansion of graduate enrollment in Master of Education in China, especially the start of the recruitment of undergraduates mostly for full-time enrollment in Master of Education in2009, accelerated the pace of transforming from academic to professional in China’s graduate education. How to ensure and improve the training quality of the Master of Education has become one of the hot issues of current concern.For a Master of Education, thesis writing is an important way to combine the theories and practice of teaching, an important way of teaching and research capacity, education master’s degree thesis is important to reflect the quality of Master of Education training. And Dissertation is completed to a high-quality paper, and the first link, directly related to the level of success or failure of the paper quality.This study takes580dissertations of the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching from2002to2011in five normal universities under the charge of the Ministry of Education as research samples. Based on the analysis of the related literature, the author employs statistical analysis method and holds a study into the selection of thesis topics of the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching to explore their characteristics and problems, and then puts forward some strategies to promote the quality of thesis topics selected by the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching and also the quality of the cultivation of the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching.This article is divided into six parts. The first part is an introduction to the research background, purpose and significance, research progress and definition of the concepts. The second part tells about the research methods, technological routes, and how to acquire and classify the samples. The third part analyzes the amount, the research areas, the typical topics, and characteristics of topics selected in each of the five universities. The fourth part explores the main problems in topic selection for the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching. The fifth part proposes some strategies to improve the quality of thesis topics selected by the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching. The sixth section summarizes the limitations of the research and implications for further study.The results of the research show:Firstly, thesis topics selected by the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching are mainly focused on middle school geography teaching, emphasizing on the study of teaching and curriculum. The research area is varied but unbalanced; Secondly, there are many problems in the thesis topics selected by the Masters of Education in Geography Teaching, which mainly represented by the vagueness of the some of the topics, the lack of innovation, the similarity of the topics, and the stylization of the content, and other issues; Thirdly, strategies should be explored by both the masters and also the universities to enhance the Dissertation quality and Master of Education training quality. For example, the Masters of Education should strengthen their study of basic theories, focus more on the study of teaching practice, and for the universities, they should try to improve the construction of the supervisors and tutor groups, be stricter in thesis proposal, do more surveys for feedbacks of the problems, and promote cooperative and communicative learning.
