The policy about further strengthening and improving university students’education on political thought issued by The Central Committee of the State Council(the16th documents issued by the Central Committee of the State Council in2004) andthe construction regulations on counselors in ordinary higher school (24th regulationsby ministry of education of the People’s Republic of China) explicitly pointed out that,"college counselors are the backbone of the college students’ ideological and politicaleducation and important components of university teachers’ team and administrativeteam." Concerned about the counselors job satisfaction, and explore the maininfluencing factors, that the aim is in order to promote the construction anddevelopment of the counselors’ team, so as to enhance efficiency of the students’management work, the degree of satisfaction of college counselors’ work. Through thefield survey of universities counselors in Chongqing, this thesis find out the mainfactors affecting the counselor’s job satisfaction, and gives suggestion on promotion ofthe counselor’s job satisfactionThis thesis chiefly contains six sections: the first section is introduction, which isclarifying the background of the topic, introducing the purpose and significance of theresearch, and identifying research content and methods. This part is as a basis for furtherstudy; The second section is about the literature review, focusing on the sort of jobsatisfaction theory and research; In the third section, the designed process and steps ofthe research are introduced; the fourth section mainly uses principal analysis method toanalyze the questionnaire and its results; The fifth section further explores the extentand results of influence of different factors on job satisfaction; related to the result ofthis research,the sixth section gives relevant recommendations to enhance counselors’ job satisfaction from individuals, schools and society.This thesis mainly conducts the research of counselors’ job satisfaction from fourdimensions of working recognition, working treatment, school management andworking environment; and the following conclusions are drawn:(1) generally speaking,counselors’ work is accomplished in a satisfactory level. Job recognition get the highestsatisfaction degree while job treatment is the lowest (2) in the job satisfaction, there aresignificant differences in counselors’ sexes, ages, work experience, the number ofstudents, students’ type, lodging condition, annual incomes, while no significantdifferences in the variable of the counselors’ types.Therefore, in order to improve the satisfaction degree of the councilors’ work, forone thing, the government and the school should attach great importance to adhere tothe people-oriented concept and constantly improve the related regulation. Furthermore,they should increase the propaganda and implementation of related policies, making thecounselor career really become respectable noble career.
