Study On Classification And Positioning Of Independent College In Jiang Xi Province

Independent college is a special organization form of Chinese higher education. It had made an important contribution for popularity and advancement of China’s higher education which provided a research carrier for basic theory innovation in higher education field. Currently the independent college is in the coexist stage of opportunity and challenge and classification and positioning becomes a way out of China’s independent college which is the exact problem the thesis studied from the following aspects:The current profiles of domestic and international higher education typical classification methods are firstly introduced in the thesis following a comparative study among the schemes of higher education classification of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization the USA Carnegie Japan and EU together. The thesis analyzed the similarities and differences of these classification schemes and draw out a research consequences that college and university classification standards should be diversified and the. classification should not become the basis of university rankings so rankings of colleges and universities must base on the basis of objective data.Then the thesis analyzes the history the present situation as well as the existing problems of Chinese independent college. The paper particularly discussed the general situation of Jiangxi province’s independent college. The paper analyzed the relative position of Jiangxi province’s13independent colleges as a whole in China’s independent college system as well as the position in the system of the higher education in Jiangxi province. The result shows that the independent colleges in Jiangxi province ranks in the medium level out of the national independent colleges. However they are the weak parts of the higher education system in Jiangxi province. In addition, the undergraduate education level of independent college is not consistent with its positioning and presentations which it should get from the platform of development and supports. Thirdly from several aspects such as the society demand of higher education and family as well as the development of school the paper analyzed the necessity of classification of the independent colleges in Jiangxi province and it found that the classification of independent college should be based on three standards: independence strategy and service. The framework of the independent college’s classification in Jiangxi province mainly includes four categories:they are comprehensive application university engineering application university concession application university and medical application university. From the aspects of overall objectives positioning talent training type and service the thesis posits every school on the system.Finally according to problems which the independent college faced in the process of development this paper puts forward four Suggestions:firstly optimization of independent college development environment secondly constructing independent college development platform thirdly external guide of independent college classification development and internally independent college gaving reasonable positioning. Finally the thesis discusses higher education theory innovation which caused by independent college property status of legal person the quality of school running and school characteristics and hot difficult problems as well.
