As an interdisciplinary subject, dermatoglyphics is playing an important role in selectinggenetic material. And some experts and scholars began to delve into dermatoglyphics. Thoughthe research in this subject has been carried on for decades, the research and applications hasnot been fulfilled in the field of athlete selection. The picking-up and verification of thedermatoglyph in various sports are open to different interpretations. This paper is aimed toperfect the database of selecting dermatoglyphic material, and provide more geneticinformation for the material selection in the foundation course conveniently. SoDocument-data method, Experts’ interview, Measurement, Image acquisition method andMathematical statistics is used to research several players’ dermatoglyph of seven teams inNanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Dalian University of Technology, BeijingNormal University, Beijing University and University of Science and Technology Beijing. Allthe players are the second grade sportsman and are more than1.7meter in height.Considering the difference in the ethnos, complexion and race,only the players in the Hannationality are chosen to be researched.Dermatoglyph is an intimate imformation. So the players should sign a permission slipbefore being selected the dermatoglyph. High-tech cameras, ZNY—V box,process paper,ink and so on are used during the progress. To separate and sign the fingerprints and the handlines is very important, and then to photo them with the camera to make sure the order ofaccuracy. After the printing, the dermatoglyph should be handled and measured with theprotractor, ruler and compasses. At last the database should be entered in the SPSS. Throughthe hypothesis testing of the database, the interrelated norm of the dermatoglyphic materialselecting can be confirmed. The results of this study is to show that CUBA women’sbasketballers don’t have simple arch, and have more double-loop pattern compared with thenormal person. There is no difference in the tentedarch and the simple whorl between them.The number of the ridge line is in negative correlation to their athletic ability.The atd angle is smaller the normal person’s and larger than man basketballers’. Thenumber of a—b ridge line is fewer than the normal person’s. The dermatoglyph in the thenareminence and hypothenar is little. But the dermatoglyph in Ⅱfingers is more than normalperson’s. According to the database, the dermatoglyph of CUBA women’s basketballers canbe chosen as the reference indicators in the genetic material selection in the basic players.The research of the dermatoglyph relies on the genetics. Dermatoglyph is formed duringintrauterine life. It is scientifically proven that dermatoglyph is genetic and stable. Besidesthat the dermatoglyphic measure is infinitized. It can be used in any situation and it is no harmto the players. And most important is that it needs low cost, without the need for specialequipment, instrument and requirements.So the features of the players’ handprint can be usedas the reference and warning for the coaches in the genetic selection. In addition, the check ofthe handprint is fast and simple; therefore, it is convenient and practical. However, the diagnosis of genetic lines also has certain limitations, only as a reference, but cannot make adecision. Dermatoglyphics is not a very mature subject, its broad and profound has yet to befurther mining research, therefore, it is only used as a reference. And no players can bearbitrarily dismissed according to some data. Or it will lose the meaning of research.
