China Badminton Super League(CBSL)is the first national professional leagueinitiated by General Administration of Sport of China, Table Tennis and BadmintonManagement Center and China Badminton Association, who expected to arouse theinitiatives of the concerned parties and promote the sustainable development of China’sbadminton through this activity. Since CBSL was restarted in2010, it has been going wellin terms of market development, management&operation, media cooperation and brandconstruction and exerting a growing influence, which drives the professionalization andindustrialization of the event. The biggest difference between CBSL and the former leagues lies in that sport-meetingsystem is transformed to home-and-away system, while the transformation is designed toraise the influence of badminton in China and push forward development of the event in theover10hosting cities. In games adopting home-and-away system, athletes would beaffected by the long journey, audiences’ tendency, venue’s environment, differences inclimate and food, team’s state and judges, which is the said “home effect”.This paper analyzes the decision criteria of home effect by means of literature review, expert interview and mathematical statistics and makes statistics and analysis respectivelyon CBSL Mixed Teams, athletes of different gender and at different grades and the win ratein local and non-local home courts and then explores factors influencing home effect ofCBSL. The research shows that: home advantage is obvious in CBSL Mixed Teams; neitherhome advantage nor home disadvantage is obvious for male athletes, while home advantageis obvious for female athletes; home advantage is unobvious for grade-A and grade-Cathletes but obvious for grade-C athletes. There is no significant difference between the winrates in non-local home courts and local home courts, indicating that non-local home courtdoes not influence much to clubs. In CBSL, home effect is mainly influenced by factorsfrom journey, audience, venue and judge. It is advised, based on the research above, thatorganizers of CBSL shall make CBSL more professional and standard. Specifically, theyshall arrange the intensity and time of the games properly and give full consideration toathletes’ travels. Meanwhile, they shall intensify trainings of judges and linesmen to avoiderroneous judgment. Moreover, coaches shall make customized training plans to athletes ofdifferent gender and at different grades and conduct simulated trainings with respect topotential disadvantages in games so as to improve athletes’ mental adaption.
