Achievement motivation is the pursuit of excellence, an intrinsic motivation and psychologicaltendency that in order to reach a higher goal, it has a close relationship with human achievementmovement.It has become an attractive theme to domestic and foreign psychologists since it wasproposed.The research based on Atkinson, Ausubel’s theory of achievement motivation and Yixia Mo’spassivity motivation theory, and achievement motivation can be researched from six dimensions:motivation of success, motivation of failure, cognitive drive, ego-enhancement drive, affiliativedrive and passivity drive. The subjects were407migrant workers’ children include fifth grade inprimary school, sixth grade in primary school, first grade in junior school and second grade injunior school in Nanjing. The compare group was277urban middle students include first grade injunior school and second grade in junior school in Nanjing and Nantong. The two motivations andinternal driving force can be measured by Achievement Motivation Scale(revised by Renmin Ye,1992) and Internal Driving Force Scale, and the class environment, parenting style and students’personality can be measured by My Class Scale(developed by Guangrong Jiang,2004), ParentingStyle Scale(developed by Steinberg L, revised by Ruihua Long,2012) and Student PersonalityScale(developed by Eysenck H J, revised by Yaoxian Gong,1983).This study analyzes the difference of achievement motivation between migrant workers’children and urban middle students, focus on achievement motivation and influence factors ofmigrant workers’ children, analyzes the influence of achievement motivation on academicachievement preliminary.Research results are follows:(1) The differences of internal driving force between migrant workers’ children and urbanmiddle students are significant: the level of cognitive drive, ego-enhancement drive andaffiliative drive of migrant workers’ children is lower than that ofurban middle students, but thelevel of passivity drive is higher than urban middle students.(2) The differences of class environment between migrant workers’ children and urbanmiddle students are significant; The differences of parenting style between migrant workers’children and urban middle students are significant (3) To migrant workers’ children, the correlations between achievement motivation andclass environment, parenting style, some personality are significant.(4) To migrant workers’ children, the class environment has positive prediction effect onachievement motivation: the prediction quotieties were19.3%,12.8%,10.3%,13.4%and13.1%;The parenting style has positive prediction effect on achievement motivation: the predictionquotieties were19.1%,17.1%,10.1%,12.7%and13.7%.(5) To migrant workers’ children, the achievement motivation has positive predictioneffect on academic performance, The academic achievement also has positive effects onachievement motivation.There is a interaction relationship between achievement motivation andacademic achievement.
