In the early20th century, the neo-museology initiates that the museum should shift its focus on oject to the concern for people, so that more people could benefit from art and culture. As the new century coming, museum education is becoming a critical factor for the existence of a museum. Museums reconsider their resources and focus on orienting the resources towards children, school students and teachers. This essay focuses on the researching on the relation between museum education and Curriculum Standards of Primary and High School Education, discussing the conjunction of museum education and school curriculum from the view of Curriculum Standards, working as laid-down rules. Museum education is still a young academic domain. This essay mainly takes the Unites States as a sample, since museum has been emphasized as a field of education in the country just since the20th century, nevertheless it has won a great development in the past decades.This essay first covers the present development of museum education, discussing the essence of museum education and its importance to the youth. Furthermore, the essay mainly analyses the conjunction of museum education in US and the K-12Art Curriculum Standards, taking New York, Massachusetts, California and Ohio as the sample. The analysis show that all the curriculum standards of the four states emphasize the collaboration of museum education and school teaching, and propose different criteria and evaluation on students, teachers and museums.With the analysis above, the third chapter of this assay points out that the sample is relevant with the curriculum standards. In summary, there are some key factors in the relation between museum education and curriculum standards:museum researchers taking part in designing curriculum standards; museum educators taking part in K-12education; teachers design curriculum together with museum educators; a delta cooperation of museum, school and a third side is also a way of cooperation.Discussing the collaboration of museum education and Curriculum Standards of Primary and High School Education in the US, the essay stresses the importance of museum education in the content of basic art education of China, as a clue of involving museum education into the long term system of Curriculum Standards of Primary and High School Education in China.
