With the constant expansion of graduate enrollment and the continuous improvement of the social requirements of talent, more and more undergraduates choose "being a graduate" as the direction of their efforts. But as the highest level of education in our country, graduate education has different properties than undergraduate education. It pays more attention to the cultivation of students’ research capabilities and creativity. Such groups called "undergraduate freshmen" who have just experienced a transition from undergraduate to graduate, whether they feel changes and pressure on learning and if so how to adapt and the results are the topics this study focuses on.This paper uses quantitative and qualitative methods to do research. Firstly, on the basis of questionnaire named "Graduate Professional Learning Survey", the author makes some modifications as our research tool. Using cluster sampling method, the author extracts10samples of Nanjing University faculties, including the Arts, Science, Engineering and so on, analyzing the overall situation and the main features of graduate freshmen’s learning adaptation. Secondly, with the findings of the questionnaire, the author chooses the students who rank the countdown of10%in the adaptation questionnaire as the proposed interviewed. By self-created interview outline named "Maladaptive group’s coping process", the researcher has an understanding of the coping results through semi-structured interviews.Our research results are followed. The overall situation of the graduates’ learning adaptation is good enough. Sex and admission voluntary order have a significant effect on the adaptation, expressing as boys better than girls and first volunteer enrolled freshmen better than others. Subject categories also make differences, expressing as Science and Engineering better than Humanities and Social studies. But whether cross-examination or not is not the case. As for the purpose of reading graduate, wanting to do academic research is better and by contrast buffering after graduation and realizing parents’ expectations and going with the flow are worse. Another important result is that the freshmen usually use the conventional approach to deal with learning maladaptive to obtain three results eventually which are the resilience reconstruction, maintenance of equilibrium and loosing reconstruction.Finally, the researcher gives several suggestions to improve the graduate freshmen’s learning adaption from the point of school education. These include strengthening the teacher-student interaction, playing the role of peer groups, enhancing learning values and methodology education, building the system of the care of tutors and counselors and classroom teachers, paying enough attention to learning and psychological education, enriching forms of learning, etc.
