Chinese traditional culture which evolves and converges from civilization is actually akind of national culture that reflects national characteristic and style. It is the totalrepresentation of all kinds of ideology and culture in the national history. Promoting thetraditional culture has a far-reaching practical significance. The national eleventh five-yearplan’s outline for culture development said,“In the next five years, our country will open uptraditional culture lessons in some qualified primary school, strengthen the traditional cultureeducation and the construction of experimental lab facility in high school, and promote thedevelopment of related disciplines.” However, at present, the deficiency of traditional cultureeducation in middle and primary school has become indisputable fact, which mainly reflectsin two aspects: firstly, the tradetional culture education has almost disappeared in our school;secondly, the invasion of foreign culture impacts the students’ ideology and daily life. Thispaper is based on building up a virtual learning community of traditional culture to promotethe traditional culture education in middle and primary school. This paper which takes thegenerative theory as the main concept, aims at helping students build personalized andliberalized learning environment, and helping them establish a correct outlook on world, lifeand value.This paper divides into six parts: the first part mainly narrates the current researchbackground of traditional culture education, using the questionnaire method and paperliterature analysis method to analyze the research situation of traditional culture education,generative learning theory and virtual learning community. Through the analysis, we couldexplicit the importance and necessity of the research; the second part is mainly about thetheory, in this part, we analyze the generative theory, resources aggregation theory,distributed cognition theory, SOLO evaluation theory and their enlightenment for ourresearch, which provides the theory basis; in the third part, according to requirement analysis,we make a design for the virtual learning community of traditional culture education. Thedesign idea is to take full advantage of education characteristics of personality andliberalization in virtual learning community, agilely express the generative learning feature ofdynamics、open and interactivity, and apply self-inquiry learning mode, task-driving teaching mode and some other teaching method to design ‘the model system of virtual learningcommunity that based on generative learning theory’; in the forth part, we use the PHP、MYSQL、Dreamweaver and Photoshop, adopt the B/S mode to develop and achieve thedefault function in the system, and have exams to the system in order to make it better; in thefifth part, we put the mode into use in middle and primary school, take the learning ofDisciple’s Rule as an example to elaborate the learners’ active procedure, and through theSOLO conversation to analyze the learners’ situation, at last, we use an evaluation methodthat based on repertory grid and fuzzy comprehension evaluation to assess the communitylearning; in the sixth part, we summarize the benefits and shortage, and offer proposals andenvisage for the further sturdy.Through the virtual learning community, this research tries hard to advocate traditionalculture education, and uses generative learning theory to carry out related theme activitiesabout traditional culture, which aims at enhancing students’ understanding about traditionalculture, promoting the effect of traditional culture education and achieving the perfectpersonality education. All of what we do will provide a reference for current traditionalcultural education of primary and middle schools.
