In the current, school education has attracted much attention,it appeared two distinct ideological tendency that "school education is universal" and "school education is useless". Someone believe that school education is universal,they placed infinite wonderful expectation or ideal in education. At the same time, somebody also lose faith in school education, they doubt and criticism of current school education.they completely denied the function of university education. Pursuiting its basic reason, in addition to the shortcomings and defects in school education, we seem to ignore the following questions: who developed the criteria of incompetent and useless? what did the standard base on? Is the standard iobjective or reasonable? It iseem that the two opinion of school education universal and useless seemingly is different, but in fact,they are the different aspects of a problem:when the public gave school education an infinite beautiful ideal, school education is universal, and when the ideal disillusionment,it turn to the other extreme that school education is useless,however, the both different opinions all neglectedt a fact that school education has its own limits.Therefore, we could perspective the two distinct ideological tendency of school education from public education value expectation and practical evaluation gap.By collecting relevant literature and empirical material, combining with the method of scientific induction, to reflect some misunderstandings that the opinion of people in school education function in real life, furthermore,we could demonstrate the limited nature of school educating function in theoretic, the puepose is to provide a starting point of rational thinking for China’s public and guide them to recognize the fact that educational ideal and reality of school education is different,to induct them to establish a reasonable expectation, thereby it could create a more comfortable and favorable external conditions for the development of school, it could given away many utilitarian label in the school, let the school return to the main body function.that is educating people. Divided into four parts:The first part mainly introduces the research background, related concepts and basic concept definition, the related literature that were summarized and the research process at home and abroad. The second part separately analysis of the current" school education universal theory" and" school is useless" tendency from two perspective of the public education expectation and education evaluation gap, and combining the current education problems to analyze, finally summarizes the fact that the gap brought about some adverse consequences. The third part sums up the root cause of the problem is that people ignored the limited nature of school education function, in the last, we argument that education is limited from school education connotation and its realitied conditions. The fourth part, combining the wrong view of public in schools education function, we appeal school should pursue its intrinsic nature.
