Autonomy is the kind of congnitive and behavioral capabilities toachievetheir reasonable goal by depending on one’s own strengths. Autonomy has avery important role in the development of children’s social,which is theimportant component of the children’s good psychological quality and healthypersonality. In recent years, about the autonomy of studies have involved a lotof aspects, as mother personality, family upbringing, authority recognition, etcare related to the autonomy of research. But the lack of temperament and theautonomy of research. Temperament is the foundation of the development ofpersonality, and is in the process of the development of the children by theimportant reason for the individual differences. It as a biological basis affect thedevelopment of children’s autonomy. Effortful control is a very importantstructure of the factors in temperament, which affects the autonomy ofdevelopment. At present, there is not too much special study about children’stemperament and the autonomy. And hasn’t had relative study yet.In consequence,this study want to explorethe relationship between effortful control and children’s autonomy,and providesome practical guidance of family and kindergarten.The research methods refer to experiment.31four-year-old children whoare taken at random from the kindergarten of Dalian are engaged in autonomyand the effortful control experiments. Through the video record every twogroups of children’s experiment performance.After coding and scoring,we canget the child’s scores of autonomy and the effortful control. SPSS12.0we usedin data analysis. Then,we discussed the relationship between the effortfulcontrol and the autonomy and its dimensions by correlation and regressionanalysis.This study reached the following conclusions:1.There was significantpositive correlation between autonomy and effortful control. The higher level ofeffortful control, the better of autonomy, and vice versa.2. There was significantpositive correlation between self-reliance and effortful control. The higher levelof effortful control, the better of self-reliance, and vice versa.3. There wassignificant positive correlation between self-assertion and effortful control. The higher level of effortful control, the better of self-assertion, and vice versa.4.There was not significant positive correlation between self-control and effortfulcontrol. The higher level of effortful control, the better of self-control, and viceversa.But in statistically relevant is not significant.5. Children’s effortfulcontrol affects their autonomy.The effortful control and autonomy exist causalrelationship.
