Dewey, a famous educator in the history of modern education,is the representative figure of pragmatism education thought.His education thought can be said to be broad and profound.The article tries to dig his education thought which has not been fully recognized as an important field-thought of interest education.The article is interested in exploring education background, theoretical basis,connotation,objective and path,and the combination of students’ management in the existing problems and difficulties.It points out that we should take interest in education as a guide in order to carry out students’ management work innovation.The article introduces the content of four respects:first part of the paper analyses the background and theoretical basis of the interest education thought In view of the political and economic background, Dewey not only elaborated the effects from the development of educational science and progressive education movement,but also analyzed its social root deeply.On the basis of these,the article comes to the conclusion that Dewey’s interest education thought is born in the particular social context,and it responds to the people of freedom and personality; In view of philosophy,Dewey’s interest education thought takes the experience into consideration,emphasizing childhood experience and focus on stimulating children’ s interest.In view of psychology,his interest education thought,based on the theory of instincts,pays attention to the children’s instinct,and regards the students’ ability as the goal;the second part introduces its connotation.In order to better understand and analyze the concept,of interest education,this paper explains it from five aspects.They are interested in the meaning and the characteristic,interest and education purpose,interest and curriculum theory,teaching theory, interest and moral education;the third part focuses on three main purposes of the interest education and elaborates paths of the interest education.In this part,firstly it introduces three main purposes,and then it mainly discusses three effective ways of-combination of direct and indirect interests,rational efforts,and training.From the relationship between interest education and efforts and training,the article points out the role of cultivating children’s interest.From the direct and indirect interest in the dialectical relationship on the angle,the article discusses the function of the transformation for development of children’s interest.The fourth part mainly introduces the Dewey’s interest education ideas on student management. Combining students’ actual management,the article concludes that the interest education is to achieve the ultimate objective of people-oriented, highlight student’s main body status,promote students’ all-round development,achieved by external management to independent management transformation.In this paper,we will have a more profound understanding of Dewey educational thoughts,which have important reference meaning in the future development of student management.
