Herbart and Dewey can be described as all-powerful masters in modern Westernhistory of education.their interest education thoughts have rich contents, while betweenthe two of their interest education thoughts have similarities and differences,similarities and differences between the two systems is the study of the most importantpurpose of this article.The first part analyzes Herbart’s interest education thoughts. Starting fromdescribes background and rationale of his thoughts, and discusses the basic content ofHerbart interest education, including the concept of interest education purpose andmeaning of the concept of interest, and interest education process and curriculumdesign.The second part analyzes Dewey’s interest education thoughts. Starting fromdescribes the background and rationale of his thoughts, and the basic content ofDewey’s interest education are discussed, including the concept of interest educationpurpose, the orientation of interest education, interest and Teaching, interest andcurriculum.The third part of the above two chapters elaborate the two educators’ interesteducation, both drawn attention to the interest education, pay attention to philosophyand psychology the roles of interest education, developing children ’s interest andelaborating the concept of interest education and so on in the Similarities. Analysis ofthe differences between the two interest education thoughts, the origin of both the on thebasis of interest education,explain the concept of interest on the roles of teaching andcurriculum.The fourth part of researching Herbart’s and Dewey’s interest education thoughtsdeeply, and describes two important historical roles of interest education thoughts, aswell as the reference value in education, and finally summarizes the interest educationthoughts of basic education reform.
