In recent years, problem solving has been emphasized in the world education reform. As a high-level thinking skill, it has been the common topic of educational psychology, cognitive psychology and education. The teaching method which can effectively cultivate students’ ability of solving problems and how to measure the ability to solve problems also became education attaches great importance to research topics. The teaching effect Traditional teaching in training students’ ability of solving problems is not so ideal, while the case-based teaching’s main teaching goal is to improve students’ ability of solving problems. How to design and implement the teaching process based on case teaching scientifically? How to test teaching effect on case-based teaching in training students’ability to solve problems? The current domestic research literature is worth reference number. The aim of this study was to examine whether using case teaching in the course of information technology is more effective in cultivating students’ ability of solving problems than traditional teaching. First of all, this paper is to cultivate students’problem solving ability as the teaching target, with the information technology curriculum "graphics based image and simple processing" for content, based on the case study of the design theory. It designed, wrote cases, established and implemented teaching plan of case-based teaching and the traditional teaching method. Then, with the related theories of problem solving as a guide, it determined the measurement structure of problem solving ability and developed "problem solving ability test ". Next, through the questionnaire survey, classroom test and work evaluation, it analyzed the different effects between case-based teaching method and traditional teaching method to cultivate the students’ ability of solving problems. Finally, according to the research result, it proved the hypotheses, summarized the research conclusions, discussed the study’s limit and shortage, and put forward some suggestions for future researches. Here are the two contributions I hope the research could have:One is to inspire information technology teachers to use information technology’s characteristic itself and design flexible and innovative IT teaching programs actively to cultivate students’ ability of solving problems. The other is to explore teaching effects of the case-based teaching, and expose some existing problems in the case-based teaching design and implementation process and put forward improved suggestions for other educators for reference by the conclusion of this research. |
