The relation between individual and its group is an important issue both in theory and practice in the development of society. In a certain sense, the cognition and processing mode of this relation has significant function and effect to individual, group and the development of society. Based on the background of the social transformation in modem China, this thesis took subjectivity as its research perspective and Marx’s social interaction theory as its theoretical foundation, interpreted many questions such as the connotations of individual, group and their respective subjectivities, the status and confusion about subjectivity and so on. Furthermore, it used relation-thought as theoretical means to explore the construct way of the relation between individual and group in modern China. Particularly, this thesis consists of four parts:Introduction and other three explicated parts. First, this part differentiates the definition of individual, group and social transformation, includes the connotations of individual and group, concept of social transformation, special meaning and content and contradiction relation of social transformation in modern China. Second, this part elaborates individual subjectivity, group subjectivity and the confusion of subjectivity. From the point of view of subjectivity, this part contrasts and analyses the status of individual and group subjectivity before and after social transformation, and then interprets the contradiction and confusion which towards them. Third, this part discusses the relation construction between individual and group. It takes relation thought as its theoretical foundation and tries to explore the method to develop individual subjectivity and group subjectivity, to establish specific route of interaction between individual and group.
