Basketball competitions in modern times are getting more andmore flexible, which mainly displays that attacking ways are gettingmore changeful. What’s more, attacking range is getting wider, andfights inside and outside the lane are fiercer and fights for the reboundare getting more intense. In order to achieve perfect and most efficientcooperation of the whole team members, there are the higherrequirements among the role of every player and their choice of tactics.During the basketball games, the guards are the organizers anddirectors, who are the core of a team. Their aspects, including skills,tactic, organizing capacity, the ability to get scores and their thoughtshave an influence on the style and level of a whole team. There hasbeen great progress in Chinese basketball through the joint efforts ofprofessional experts and amateurs. Basketball games get more andmore professionalism and commercialism, and dozens of excellentbasketball players have been developed, such as Yao Ming, WangZhizhi, Ter Ba, Yi Jianlian and others, who are famous as “the MobileGreat Wall”, which attracts worldwide attention, and the same ofChinese forwards. In the28thOlympic Games, the average height of Chinese men’s basketball players is2.02meters, which equals firstclass of the world. However, Chinese men’s basketball team did not geta breakthrough while losing many games, which reveals that theoverall level has an apparent tendency to decline. In the28thOlympicGames, Chinese men’s basketball team won a NO.8, but theperformance of the team showed a huge gap between the westernteams. The reasons for the failure are various, one of which is becauseof the incompetent of the guards mainly.This study employs the researching methods among documentaryliterature, expert interview, video observation, statistics and logicanalysis. It chooses the guards of both the Chinese team and five ofher opponents in the16thmen’s world basketball championship asstudy object, analyzing the Chinese guards and western guardscompletely and deeply to find the gap between them with the help ofanalysis and comparison of their technical indicators to find theproblems and put forward efficient and relative strategies. Theconclusions show that:1. The average height of Chinese guards andwestern guards show no significant difference, but Chinese guardshow the very big disparity in terms of the average weight. In otherwords, Chinese players are poor in strength, and have less explosivepower and counter power.2. The lower scoring gained by guardsresults from lack of self-confidence, fewer shots, and the lower desireto attack, and misuse techniques when driving for the basket.3. Theoverall assist ability of Chinese guards are poor, and could not grasptime and power properly when passing, and lack of concealment, andpoor consciousness of handing while running.4. The consciousness ofgrabbing the offensive rebounds of Chinese guards needs to be improved.5. When defending, Chinese guards failed to keep lower andtheir moving speed are slow, which made some unnecessary faults.
