Intrinsic motivation Teaching is an important teaching method which is proved to beuseful in the researches performed by the foreign language investigators during the lastdecades of20thcentury. The motivation refers to something that could stimulate the interestof learning, and the type of motivation which is in the inner of a person or the learner can belooked as the intrinsic motivation which is correspond to the extrinsic motivation. Theteachers should make full use of intrinsic motivation teaching methods based on the sixprinciples of motivation in order to stimulating and fostering the students’ intrinsicmotivation. The primary aim of this research is to explore the impact of intrinsic motivationto oral English scores of students from senior high school and to investigate if the teacherdesign and arrange oral English teaching activities based on the principles of intrinsicmotivation will improve students’ oral academic performance, so as to find a way to improvetheir achievement.The Intrinsic Motivation Teaching is conducted on oral English teaching in JinxiangSenior High School in Shandong province, the author makes an investigation on oral Englishperformance and intrinsic motivation. Firstly, subjects come from two original classes ofJinxiang Senior High School, and questionnaires were handed out by the author. According tothe entrance examination, the two groups of students with same level were named as theexperimental group and the control group respectively. Following the principles of intrinsicmotivation, motivational teaching methods were used in the experimental group while thecontrol group was going on as usual without any special interference. This experiment waslasted12weeks, during which both of the two groups were conducted by the same teacherand with the same teaching materials. After12weeks experiment, a post-test designed by theauthor will be carried out in the two groups. The students in the experimental group gethigher achievement from the students in the control group in their oral English learning. Theresults of the study show that the students who have higher intrinsic motivation will gethigher scores during the oral English examination. In other words, the students’ intrinsicmotivation and their achievement of oral English learning are with positive correlation.There are some suggestions to oral English teachers according to this study. They wereexpected to find a way to stimulate, foster and keep the students’ intrinsic motivation, such asusing more motivational teaching methods and giving the students more opportunities ofsolving questions by themselves and conducting the class with students-centered idea. It isassumed that this study may provide an authentic description of senior high school students’ motivation, and also may some new theoretical basis of oral English teaching were offered toother teachers. So that with these methods of motivational teaching, they could find a shortcutof stimulating, fostering and keeping the students’ motivation, through which to conduct theoral English classes well and successfully.
