To adapt to the need of talents training as the development of society, mathscurriculum must emphasize on students’ perception of space and intuition of geometry.The maths figure recognition ability plays a role in junior high school students’ study ofgeometry and maths. At the same time, it is helpful for students to know the life spaceand feel the connection between maths and real life. The research questions in the thesisare as following: what is the situation of junior high school students’ maths figurerecognition ability? How to develop junior high school student’s maths figurerecognition ability? Which are factors that influence junior high school students’ mathsfigure recognition ability? What are the implications for the maths figures teaching?On the basis of summarizing the research on maths figures teaching, in the thesis,the question “what is maths figure recognition ability?” is thought in the thesis.According to six abilities of students in maths, including the visual perception ability offigures and situation, the ability to analyze complicated figures, the ability to analyze thechange of figures (unfolding and folding, rotation, symmetry, ect.). chooses180juniorhigh school students in Ji Nan high school as the research subjects and makes a researchon their maths figure recognition ability. To make a research on the main ways todevelop student’s maths figure recognition ability and main factors to influence students,the writer asked20junior high school teachers and180students before the test.Combining with the conclusion of the research, there are seven developing rules and fourstrategies are come up with, expecting to be helpful for maths figure teaching.The main conclusions are as following:1.The questionnaire shows: the maths figure teaching on the basis of the multimediais the main way to develop student’s math figure recognition ability; the degree torecognize maths figure influence student’s feeling about maths figure study; student’stendency to study maths figure, the emphasis on the maths figure teaching, teaching style,teaching model, multimedia level and teacher’s level are all factors that influencestudent’s maths figure recognition. 2.The conclusion of the test shows: there is no problems on students’s firstrecognition about maths figure. The deep understanding about the maths figure isdifferent. The analyzing ability to identify the basic figure and combine it to the complexone, the ability to change the figure to the real object, the ability to imagine from the lowdimension to the high dimension and the ability to explore the invisible rules of mathsfigure are weak.The thesis is on the basis of curriculum and teaching theory, maths learning theory,maths methodology. The specific contents are as following:The first part, from the need of maths reform, new curriculum standard and theimportance of maths figure teaching, the research background is put forward; theresearch situation of maths figure is elaborated from home and abroad.The second part, the maths figure’s definition and the theory of maths figurerecognition ability are described. The different versions of maths books are analyzed todevelope student’s maths figure recognition ability.The third part, it is the vital part of the thesis. From the questionnaire on studentsand teachers, the main methods to develop students’ maths figure recognition and factorto influence it are explored. From the results of test, the situation of junior high schoolstudents is analyzed in detail.The fourth part, based on the research results, it analyzes the problems in trainingstudent’s maths figure recognition ability and raises some strategies to survey efficientapproaches.The fifth part, combining the teaching case<simple axial symmetry>, the teachingplans on developing maths figure recognition ability are applied to teaching practicein order to be helpful for maths figure teaching.The sixth part, reflections and suggestions. The weak points are summarized andthe further research is expected.
