| The dragon boat sport is one of the Chinese nation traditional sports in our country.Dragon boat as a folk recreational activity is originated at the end of the warring statesperiod of China which is usually carried out in China’s traditional festival named DragonBoat Festival. After long time change, dragon boat sport has gradually developed into amodern competitive sport with the systematic rules from a mere ceremony. In nowadays,dragon boat sport is increased more competitive race spirits, team working spirits andpersonal sportsmanship like fortitude, tenacious struggle and enterprising while weakeningthe primordial entertainment and folk belief. Dragon boat sport attracted more people’sattention and participation for its sportsmanship. In recent years, the male dragon boatsport of colleges and universities in our country has been well developed and the numberof the teams has increased year by year. With a fast developing trend of the male dragonboat sport in colleges and universities, some problems has gradually appeared and made agreat affect on the development of university male dragon boat movement.In order to promote the development of the male dragon boat sport in colleges anduniversities, we need to understand its present situation and problems, and then draw up apracticable solution. In this paper, we investigated the coaches and athletes from25members of the university dragon boat racing athletic association through thequestionnaires and interviews and summarized the status quo of the development of themale dragon boat sport, dragon boat courses, the university student cognition to the dragonboat sport, the level of team construction and the training means, training conditions andcompetition situation of athletes etc.The research results show that:(1) one-third of25surveyed dragon boat memberuniversities opened the dragon boat sport courses and had a good mass base.2) the collegestudents which participate in the dragon boat sport have a preference utilitarianism wherehas a low level dragon boat sport value education.3) The college dragon boat sport has anunbalanced development in the colleges and universities. Only11colleges and universities have built teams over7years.4) The main reasons affecting the dragon boat sportdeveloping level in colleges and universities is the insufficient dragon boat cultureconstruction.5) Colleges and universities need to established more effective selectioncriteria and the method to replace the current experience based selecting way.6) Inflexibleadmissions policy which can not fully arouse the enthusiasm of high level athletes incolleges and universities hinder the improvement of competitive level of dragon boatsports.7) Lack of systematic exercise training in daily life affect the improvement of thesports level.8) Insufficient funds, single financing means and unsatisfied marketableoperation are also the reasons in hindering the improvement of dragon boat sports.9) Thewinter training become a main problem in restricting the stable competitive performancefor most of the dragon boat teams are in the northern China.According to the above survey results, we proposed some main strategies for thefurther development of male dragon boat sport in colleges and universities. There arealtogether six aspects including: new team mode innovating and advanced technology;improving training condition and training level; scientific players selection way；improvingtraining efficiency, coaches quality; fully understanding the project winning rules;Strengthening cultural construction and improving and level of dragon boat sportspopularity... |
