The overall objective of the English teaching for the Elementary Education Stage is tocultivate students’ comprehensive ability of using English. With the prevalence ofquality-oriented education, great attention had been brought to elementary Englishteaching,but due to the limitation of various factors, especially the traditional talent choosingpattern in the teaching, depend on too much on the textbooks, focus too much on theknowledge that is tested in the examinations and ignore that English should play its role asa way of language,because of the lack of language environment and their own intelligenceand non-intelligent great differences arouse among the students.. However,---is not only thefoundation of language acquisition, but also a key factor for the students further Englishlearning development. The thesis states we should focus on fostering students’ Englishlearning literacy, with the aim of equipping students with the ability of continuous learning,and laying the foundation for students’ lifelong learning.First, based on the concept of junior middle school students English literacy and thetraining goal,this thesis analyzes the related English teaching methods domestic andabroadand domestic training teaching method of Junior Middle School students’ Englishliteracy, as well as their development trend and the existing problems.The thesis alsoanalyzes the status. combining constructivism theory, Maslow’s hierarchy theory of needstheory, and hierarchy theory of learning, Chapter ii Expounded the principle of the newcurriculum standard.The inherent driving of the Examination-oriented education makes moreand more teachers focus on teaching textbooks, neglecting the students training of the overallEnglish literacy. But as a matter of fact, because of the particularity of English subject, onlythe textbooks knowledge is not enough, therefore, cultivation of junior middle schoolstudents’ English literacy is very important.Secondly, with the help of the theories, the writer made an experiment about fostering students’English learning literacy.Chapter iii is an empirical study. The experiment started in2009.Using the observation method, questionnaire survey method,testing method,experimental method, the writer carried out and and analyzed the experiment. By analyzingthe pre-test results, we earned that there are no significant differences in academic classes, study habits, learning methods, cooperative learning and learning ability. And the post testproved that the literacy training methods have strengthened the students’ Englishliteracy.In the ways and means, we cultivate the students’ English literacy training step bystep through the hierarchical learning experimental program of the seven stages. Throughoutthe process,fxperimental data collected through observation, survey, test, the hypothesis isconsistent with experiment conclusion in the end.In the last chapter, The thesis describe the study’s unique significance as well as itsimplications. In the mean time, we give our suggestions,hoping that they are useful fir thepractical teaching and administrations.At last,the writer found that paying attention to the cultivation of student’s English literacycan help students form good English learning interest and good habits of language learning,so as to lay a solid foundation of language learning in the future and equip students with theability of continuous learning. This can help students relaxed and happy learning Englishthis language internationalization. And students will also take the initiative to dabble in theEnglish language of life related information and use the English language consciously intotheir life.The thesis also states the conclusion including its significance, implications anddrawbacks as well.
