In the area of teaching mathematics in secondary schools, combiningalgebra with geometry is an important thinking method. Whereas it is the weaknessof students’ learning process. In the test, the problems including combining algebrawith geometry is the leading point of losing marks. According to the investigationwhich aims to find what subjects middle school students like most, it is obvious thatstudents dislike mathematics in common, especially for girls. Students believe thatdealing with the problems of combining algebra with geometry is the most difficult.However, there are something which is worth paying attention to. On one hand,solving algebra problem with the help of graph and dealing with geometry problemswith the help of algebra are efficient to improve students’ ability and speed ofsolving mathematic problems. On the other hand, compared with former students,the ability of solving problems with creating graph initiatively is deteriorating.The research focusing on the situation mentioned above, regard improvingthe ability of applying the thinking method of combining algebra with geometry inthe teaching process as the aim of research. The general psychological problemswhich happen during the process of solving problems which combine algebra withgeometry will be investigated and concluded, with the help of the mode ofcultivating thinking pattern which comes from the psychological method of forminghabits in21days. In order to improve the secondary students’ thinking pattern ofcombining algebra with geometry,“Training Methods in21days” is creativelyestablished. In the research, the comparing experiments between two classes areconducted. However, the ability of combining algebra with geometry is one part ofstudents capacity, it is difficult to appraise the effect of teaching. To slove thisproblem, designing an appraisal mode associated with the method of analyzing levelshas been done. Through dividing the levels of elements which are manifested by thethinking pattern of combining algebra with geometry, marking gradually, theconclusion of the research can be appraised completely and scientifically.After put the “Training Methods in21days” into practice, the writer finds that the training method is effective to improve students’ thinking pattern and abilityof solving problems combining algebra and geometry. Therefore, the method isworth applying in the mathematic teaching in the secondary school and it is usefulfor mathematic teachers to expand their teaching approaches, improve teachingquality, stimulate student’s ability of analyzing and solving problems.
