By using the methods of documentation, individual cases study and logical analysis, this paper analyzes the administrative oganization and system of regional intercollegiate athletics in the US. The paper puts forward suggestions aiming at some problems in the relevant areas in China as well. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) With perfect laws and regulations and system, the administration of US college sports is highly socialized, tightly integrates with American higher education system and has gained tremendous social benefit.(2) As a foundation of the whole system of US college sports, the regional intercollegiate athletic competition is fully developed everywhere in the country. In the US, the loose systemic enviroment and powerful dynamic mechanism are essential for the governing bodies of regional intercollegiate athletic competition to survive and develop.(3) In college athletic conferences in the US, organizations and rules and regulations are perfect, jobs and duties of members are clear, division of power of functional departments is distinct, and working routines are rigorous, flexible and practical. Since all kinds of management authority are equally distributed among member institutions, all kinds of management can be rationally and orderly processed.(4) The various features of regional intercollegiate sports competition system in the US are significant to improving athletic performance of students, reaching many educational goals of college sports, promoting sports cultural atmosphere in campuses and communities, etc.(5) The suggestions for the relevant areas in China are that, strengthen organizations of college sports association at provincial level and improve their functions and turn them into mass organizations that can independently govern college sports competitions in the areas under their administration; by taking advantage of that there are many colleges and universities in large and medium-sized cities, build a regional intercollegiate sports competition system with those cities as geographical range.
