As the world is changing and the tactics is developing,the theory is also in an innovating process.In the previous research about competition,the developmental trend and its qualitative study account for much.Whereas,the qualitative study relating to zone attack tactics holds not that much,the literature of which is also very little at home and abroad.In other words,research regarding to this aspect is just at the exploration stage.With methods of literature,video statistics,mathematical statistics and comparative analysis,this research,by statistical analyzing the video materials of top five teams in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing,tends to find the rule of zone attack through comparing the general features of different zone attacks.The research findings are as follows:In the attacks of horizontal former zone,the error rate of the right forward is apparantly higher than the forth place during the anti stage,whereas no distinct differences can be seen during the first round attack.When the first pass is in place,the third place fast break is greatly used during the first round attack,whereas the right forward and forth place prefer to use more attacks in the anti stage.The right forward power attacks are used heavily in the push and keep attack.In the poor first pass,the adjustment of power attacks of right forward accounts for a great portion during the first round attack and gets good result.The forth place attacks are heavily used and get good result in the anti stage.Attacks of the after the cross-cutting and the vertical zone, the world powerful teams are characteristized by the high success rate and little failure.The right back attacks more frequently in the attacks between right back and back row of the sixth place. Between the left court and mid court vertical attack,the left court attacks account for a bigger proportion.Comparing the attack results among the three zones,success rate of after the cross-cutting zone is apparantly higher than that of horizontal former zone.When the first pass is in place,chances for the player in horizontal former zone to win are bigger than those in the after the cross-cutting zone during the first round attack.In the anti stage,there are great chances for the players to win in both the after the cross-cutting zone and the vertical zone.In the poor first pass,the success rate for the players in the after the cross-cutting zone is higher than those in the horizontal former zone during the anti stage.Comparing with the horizontal zone,the vertical zone accounts for higher success rate in the push and keep attack.Comparing with the world powerful teams,Chinese team is characterized by the poor power attack of net players.In the horizontal former zone,when the first pass is in place,Cinese team shows much turnover in the power attack and much higer success rate in the fast-cover tactics than the world average level.When the first pass is poor,chances for the player No.2 to adjust to power attack to.win are slim.As to the attack comparison among the three zones,the percentage of error is high in the horizontal former zone for Chinese team when the first pass is poor.Comparing with the Chinese team,chances for the American team to win in the right forward and forth place attack are bigger when the first pass is in place in the horizontal former zone.As to the attack comparison among the three zones,no matter the first pass is poor or not,the success rate for Chinese team in the horizontal former zone is lower than American team.
