At present, as the rapid development of computer network and multimedia technology. Video surveillance technology which combined with network is also being digital, intelligent and networking. Remote video surveillance IP work is the research hot spot. The user not only be able to get the message sent by the remote platform, but also can send control order to the remote platform. And then achieve the exchange of information between the user and the monitoring equipment.Embedded Application System is a kind of specific product which advanced computer technology, semiconductor electronics in close connection with each other. It Usually for a specific applied, embedded microprocessors is high integration, low power consumption, small size, small system, and enhance the system the ability to move.Embedded systems software is solidified in the storage media, will help improve the speed and system reliability.In the paper, we designed a network video surveillance system, which is a system of image and video acquisition, transmission based on S3C2440and linux, The main work includes:According to the basis of development conditions and needs analysis, we introduced the process of building ARM+linux system in detail at first, including the construction of embedded hardware platform and the embedded linux configuration, driver changes and transplantation.we made a detailed statement of the data network transmission process.The collection section includes a USB camera driver transplantation, the Boa cross compiler and transplantation, servfox cross compiler and transplantation, V4L Application under linux. we compiled the boa server home page HTML file and a simple CGI dynamic document, and we also builded a complete video transmission system:to achieve the development and implementation of the TCP network programming based on the Linux development tools.Finally, according to the two modes for the server/client and browser/server network monitoring structure, we describe the specific design of network communication and implementation process in detail.In the test section, we make a comparison of the two monitor mode,and analize the test result when we reaching the premise of the same or similar operating result at the same time.The system implemented in the paper is stable, reliable, less resource and high real-time.It provided excellent service for image capturing, video transmission,remote monitoring and other embedded applications.It is important for later development of embedded network video transmission. In the end of this paper we analyzes the inadequacies of the existing and proposed to be improved in the direction.
