With the improvement of people’s living standards, people are no longer satisfiedwith the side exposed to the performance of the embedded device. In the countriestoday government called for the establishment of the era of the informationsuperhighway, people can not tolerate is the data processing capabilities of the networkequipment and data processing capability of the network equipment, however, lies in itscore processing unit embedded processor performance. With the rapid growth ofInternet users, the single-core network equipment can not meet people’s needs, somulti-core architecture developed network equipment into the direction ofdevelopment of the network equipment R&D personnel. However, in accordance withthe traditional single-core processor software design methods did not play very well outof multi-core processors, high-performance, so explore the multicore platform softwaredevelopment becomes more important. In this context, this project is the developmentof software systems for multi-core MIPS router and research.The research work mainly includes the following aspects: First, the background toaffect the performance of network devices analyzed and came to the conclusion that thedevelopment of multi-core platforms with suitable software system. And today’smulti-core platform2of the more popular software architecture and multi-coreprocessors theory. Secondly, the use of multi-core processors in the network equipmentrouter, in accordance with the different types of network services on the router, itssoftware system analysis and design.
