With the promotion of regional integration in Yangtze River Delta becomes the nationalstrategic choice, the importance of advancing regional integration should be emphasized to carryout the free mobility of elements, the reallocation of resources and economic development.Based on the empirical rule of inversed U of New Economic Geography theory, the paperstudies regional integration in the facet of specialization and industrial concentration.Throughdimensions of region, industry, time and space, the manufacturing agglomeration and its transferpath of16cities in Yangtze River Delta are measured. Also the effects of agglomeration areexplored by Metrology Theory. The regional specialization is analyzed by specialization index andLocation quotient. Furthermore, the correlation of manufacturing is explored by spatialautocorrelation. The results have confirmed the theory hypothesis that during the process of integration, theindustry agglomeration and regional specialization have been promoted. First, the existing researchthat relating to “Yangtze River Delta:two provinces and one city”, shows the manufacturingindustry has tended to be centralized. According to the data of manufacturing industry of16citiesin Yangtze River Delta, however, the industrial agglomeration index of the overall manufacturingindustry appears to be diffusive as well as the majority industry, except a few high technologyindustry. In addition, it traces out that the level of manufacturing concentration degree is low, andthe regional integration of Yangtze River Delta is turning from intermediate to senior stage. Basedon the affecting factors of manufacturing location, labor leads to industry diffusive during theevolution of integration, while the effect of technology is not significant. The preface empiricallyproves the diffusive tendency of labor-intensive industry in Yangtze River Delta for special stage, which differs from the existing points. Second, the specialized division degree raises both in theoverall Yangtze River Delta and individual city. By the comparative analysis of specializationindex among cities, it finds out the specialized division is gradually deepened, which confirms theexisting conclusion. What’s more, the different direction of city industrial development issignificant, and it goes more on condition of the more detailed differentiation of industry andregion. Third, the paper analyses the spatial autocorrelation concerning to the manufacture of16 cities in Yangtze River Delta, which has never been researched before. The result indicates thespatial correlation of geographic concentration in partial manufacturing industry in Yangtze RiverDelta is significant; then the higher geographic concentration areas are mainly distributed inShanghai and its adjacent cities, while displaying the diffusion effect.
