Private enterprise plays an important role in national economy of china, a large number of private enterprises have been developing by family business which has created high efficiency and some still continue to create higher efficiency. According to the survey and the statistics; the number of private enterprises which was managed by family holds about90percent of the total in China. In these enterprises, the family members occupy40percent of the important management position such as the decision-making in production, distribution and financial and so on.The traditional feature of the family business in management is that the entrepreneur who are not only the property owner but also the business manager. The combination of property and management rights is the key factor to keep the competitiveness at the beginning. But the practical experience proves that this kind of management model which isn’t helpful to promote enterprise’s further development. With the rapid development of our society, the specific management model and methods of the family enterprise should also be changed, which must be also complied with the trend of the market and the times, to catch the development opportunity in the increasingly fierce competitive environment. Whether the family enterprises can break through the traditional family management style and reform themselves into the modem management system with clear property rights and clear responsibilities and scientific operation procedures. Which are the key factors to realize the desire of "the eternity of the family business" and also worth considering of the researchers and the entrepreneurs.With reference to the substantial literature about management and development of family business in china and abroad as well as my work experience at family enterprise. In my opinion, the family enterprises even have demerits, but they still have merits and vitalities. While, most of the researches of strategy management and development aimed at state-owned enterprises in china, and there are very few researches about family enterprises. So it is significant to explore the scientific development model of domestic family enterprise, it is also very important to analyze the status and frame the development strategy of family business, which is helpful to promote reforms in management of family enterprises.In this thesis, through the research on the status quo of domestic family enterprises, and the analysis of the problems in operation and management, resources allocation, employment mechanism, the internal relationship and the family business succession. I seriously think about the constraint factors of family enterprise development and draw some conclusion. Through the comparative analysis and the predecessor’s research on the family business in domestic and foreign countries, acquiring some successful management experience of family business. I hope this thesis will be helpful for the continuous development of family businesses in the future.
