The intention of travel mode choice is not only the main basis for travel mode choice, and also significantly and directly influences on the structure of urban travel. It is good measure to rationalize the structure of urban travel and ease urban traffic, by effecting and even changing the intention of travel by car, and motivating people to travel by public transport. Beijing is the first cities facing to the traffic jam. Study on the intention of its residents’travel mode choice has much significance to the management of urban transportation. In the paper, after the research about these literatures on the intention of travel mode choice, the Theory of Planning Behavior (TPB) and the Norm-Activation Model (NAM) are defined as the basic theory in the paper. To more scientifically and comprehensively consider the influence factors of the intention of travel mode choice, the first step is to build the theoretical integrated model of residents’travel model choice. In the process of build the theoretical model, firstly, the models of TPB and NAM about residents travel model choice intention respectively are built, and then, take all factors, which have been used in the two model, into consideration to build the internal integrated model. Finally, adding to the factors about individual, family and urban transportation policies, the integrated model is built. After building the theoretical model, the questionnaires, used to investigate the travel behavior choice intention of Beijing residents, would be designed and used to collect related data. To ensure the reliability of the data and the questionnaires, the credit and validity analysis would be used before the empirical research. Last, according to the theoretical model, the empirical research would be used to test the travel model choice intention of Beijing residents. The mutual influence and mechanism between the intention of their travel mode choice and the influent factors are explored with the Structural Equation Model (SEM), whose results and conclusions would be the theoretical basis of the management of Beijing urban transportation and the development of Beijing public transportation.Totally, there are several conclusions as following. Firstly, both Theory of Planning Behavior and Norm-Activation Model have better explanatory ability on the intention of travel mode choice, and SEM is also appropriate using to analyze the causal relationships between the intention of Beijing residents’travel mode choice and its influent factors. Secondly, the influent factors of the travel intention could be departed into internal psychological factors and external factors. Last but not least, based on the empirical analysis, some specific results about Beijing residents could be obtained. For example, the Comprehensive model of TPB and NAM has better explanatory ability than any single one. It includes six internal psychological factors, which all have positive significant influence on the intention of travel mode choice. In addition, personal and policy characteristics indirectly influence on the intention by the attitudes, while family characteristics directly influence on the intention. Finally, some suggestions are proposed for the planning and management of Beijing urban transport and the quickly development of Beijing public transportation from the perspectives of internal psychological and external factors.
